WASHINGTON, April 5, 2010 - Environics Communications, Inc., a full-service North American public relations agency, today announced that David Farmer has joined the agency as a vice president in the Washington, D.C. office.

Farmer, who has nearly 25 years of professional public relations and corporate communications experience domestically and internationally, will head the agency’s expanding U.S. technology and telecommunications practice. Environics has represented clients in this sector for more than 15 years, ranging from hardware manufacturers to digital satellite broadcasters to telecom service companies.

Before joining Environics, Farmer was vice president of corporate communications and marketing at SkyTerra Communications, North America’s leading supplier of mobile satellite communications services, now at the forefront of developing the nation’s first integrated satellite-cellular communications network. Prior to SkyTerra, he held public relations and marketing positions at Telenor Satellite Services and COMSAT Corporation, which was acquired by Lockheed Martin. Farmer began his career with Sprint International.

In these positions, Farmer’s responsibilities included strategic planning and messaging, and launching new technologies, services and products for use by businesses, government agencies and consumers. He also oversaw traditional and social media campaigns; and provided support for trade shows, special events and sponsorships. Additionally, Farmer has supervised corporate communications programs including merger and acquisition announcements; earning reports; employee relations; investor relations; crisis communications; and other communications functions for publicly traded multinational companies with U.S. headquarters or operations.

"David Farmer has extensive experience in developing and implementing communications campaigns domestically and internationally that reach consumers, businesses, government agencies, and the investment community. He knows how to create awareness programs that use both traditional and new media, and is a strong addition to our rapidly expanding U.S. operations," said Dave Groobert, general manager of Environics Communications in the U.S.

Farmer holds an MBA in international business from George Washington University and a BS in business administration and marketing from George Mason University. Samples of his innovative communications campaigns have been featured in college marketing textbooks.
